1st Datchet (Ditton Park) Sea Scouts

Remembrance Sunday

1st Datchet meet to mark Remembrance Sunday on the 10th November 2013 and pay their respects.

On a chilly Sunday Morning members from all the sections of 1st Datchet Sea Scout group joined the Royal British Legion and members of 2nd Datchet Scout group to mark the day. We formed up on the green in Datchet to Parade into St Mary’s Church for a Service of remembrance. As part of the service one of our Scouts read one of the prayers of penitence. After the service we formed up at the back of the church and marched back to the green. On the green we stood to mark the 1 minute silence and remember all those that have given their lives for this country in the 2 world wars and in many conflicts since. The last item was to lay the groups wreath on the war memorial and we were represented by 1 of the beavers, 1 of the cubs & 1 of the scout from our group.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them”

For Their Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today”
