1st Datchet (Ditton Park) Sea Scouts

Sea Scout Section

The Sea Scouts are made up of Boys and Girls aged between 10 ½ - 14 ½. The Troop holds weekly meetings at the Scout Hut during the Autumn/Winter, every Friday evening from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. (Except for a 3 week break over Christmas/New Year). In the Summer the meetings are held away from the Scout Hut at a location where we can run our Water Activates.

We have our own fleet of Kayaks, Canoes and Rowing Boats, which our members use to develop and refine a broad range of skills and gain qualifications under the supervision of qualified Leaders and Instructors. These activities include Canoeing & Kayaking, Pulling (or Fixed Seat Rowing), Sailing, Rafting and more…

As well as the packed Water Activities program we also do all the normal Scouting activities, with the members training in traditional Scouting Skills and gaining a wide variety of awards and badges. These activities include Climbing, Hiking, Archery, Camping, Pioneering , Cooking (indoor and out, on open fires) and much, much more.

During the year we run 2 or 3 camps, the highlight of which is our week long summer camp held at a different camp site in the UK each year. Also about every 4 years we go abroad for our Summer Camp.

Finally, members also join together with other Windsor & Eton Troops to participate in a range of District organised activities including hikes and competitions. Throughout all of these activities, the focus firmly remains on adventure, challenges and  FUN!
